 Art History for Kids
This site presents a weekly Internet project in which students act as Art Detectives, traveling to some of the major museums of the world searching for famous art works. Students learn about the artist, art work, and doing art, as they use clues to solve the puzzle.

 Art Images for College Teaching
This site offers free exchange of image resources. Images are categorized within five periods (Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance & Baroque, 18-20th Century, and Non-Western). Each period is further sub-categorized.

 
Creative Impulse: The Artist's View of World History and Western Civilization
This site serves as a meta-list of links to resources on World History/Civilization. You can select from over a dozen historical/cultural periods (e.g., Egypt, Renaissance, Age of Industry). Within each period, there are two types of links: 1) to traditional historical resources on that era; 2) to resources on the art, music, drama, literature, and culture of the age. Each page has a search engine for ease in finding a particular historical or artistic resource.

Masks Theme Page
This CLN Theme Page is a collection of curricular information on masks for students and instructional materials for teachers. The history of masks and its use in various cultures is referred to frequently.

No Fear o'Eras
In this site, students tour through seven periods (Byzantine era, The Renaissance, The Dutch School, Rococo, Impressionist Painting, Cubism and Abstract Expressionism). Students examine representative works of the period, answer questions, and then present their answers to their class.

This Canadian site has a number of useful resources, including: Art History: A Preliminary Handbook; Important Moments in Canadian Art History; links to other Websites; and Words of Art: A Glossary of Theory and Criticism for the Visual Arts.

WebMuseum: Famous Paintings Exhibition
This section of the multi-site WebMuseum contains brief descriptions of major historical movements organized by art themes (e.g. Gothic, Baroque, Impressionism, 20th Century, and Japanese Art and Architecture). There is also a lengthy collection of biographies of famous artists along with samples of their work. These can be accessed either alphabetically or within the thematic descriptions.

Why is the Mona Lisa Smiling? uses critical thinking instructions, scientific inquiry and multilingual resources to learn about the Mona Lisa, Da Vinci's music, and more. Students can create postcards and take quizzes in this interactive Thinkquest made by high-school students in the Bronx and Sweden.
